High Wizard Guides

Stat Build:
Let's take an overview on the stat build for an High Wizard: Int determines the damage your spells deal so it's advised to have it to the maximum possible. Dex determines the speed of casting and the chances you have to hit when you deal physical damage (not spell damage), 170 is the minimum value to have instant spell casting but it is advised to higher it for two reasons: first, if you keep it to the minimum and you are hit by a dex decreasing skill (Quagmire) you'll lose instant casting; second, the skill magic crasher (the only skill that is really effective against Golden Thief Bug Card users) uses dex to determine the hit chance. Luk determines the critical hit chance (useless for wizards) but if raised to 300 makes the character invulnerable to any status change (Silence and Freezing are the most dangerous). Agi determines the attack speed and the flee rate, attack speed (ASPD in game) is not so important for wizards but sometimes (for example during WoE if you have to break the emperium) you'll have to do deal physical damage and it's good to deal it quickly (maximum ASPD is 197). Flee rate determines your chance to avoid being hit so it's good to have a quite high agi to gain a decent flee rate. Str determines physical attack damage and your inventory weigh limit, for a wizard str isn't so important so we will higher it just to have enough weight limit to carry gemstones required to cast some spells. Vit is a more difficult matter, it determines your Health Points but every point given to vit determines also an increase of the total defense (DEF ingame); some weapons, like ice pick or weapons with thanatos card, deal damage proportionally to the enemy defense so, if you have too high vit, they will kill you in no time. The balance between damage dealt by those weapons, damage dealt by assassin's Soul Breaker shill and decent health points is reached when you total defense is around 120. So to determine the amount of points to spend in vit you'll have to calculate 120-armor defense (armor defense is the left number of the defense addition, in game you'll see “DEF 4+116” the first number is the armor damage and the second one is exactly you vit value. The damage reduction formula, by the way, gives much more importance to armor defense than vitality one; when you receive damage it will be reduced by 1 for each vit defense point and by 1% for each armor defense point.

Putting all together the stats build is (beware that any stat value is represented by an addition, for example “INT 100+10” means your total intelligence is 110! The numbers in the stat build represent the total value resulting from each stat addition) :

Str: around 200
Agi: around 270
Vit: 120-<Armor defense>
Int: 450
Dex: 300+x (put it to 300 regardless the bonus)
Luk: 300

If you save some point spend them in agi or str but try to keep, at least str, to a ten-rounded value, there's little to difference between have 150, 151 or 156 str, the difference is much more important between 150 and 160 Str.

Skill Build:
In bold are the most important ones:

Increase SP Recovery Level 10
Sight Level 1 (Important if you don't have neither Ex 3D Glasses nor Maya Purple Card to spot hidden enemies)
Napalm Beat Level 5
Soul Strike Level 10
Cold Bolt Level 10
Frost Diver Level 2
Stone Curse Level 10
Fire Ball Level 10
Fire Wall Level 10
Fire Bolt Level 10
Lightning Bolt Level 10
Thunder Storm Level 10
Energy Coat Level 1 (Very useful against physical-damage users)
Fire Pillar Level 5 (use this if during WoE if snipers don't use traps to slow down the enemies)
Sight Trasher Level 2
Meteor Storm Level 10 (this Area of Effect spell deals great damage especially if spammed use this during castle-defending WoE)
Jupiter Thunder Level 10 (THE bolt skill to use during WoE and also useful in pvp because it pushes back opponents, don't use this skill against snipers or gunslingers outside WoEs or you probably won't be able to hit them again)
Lord of Vermillion Level 10 (this is a low-damage area of effect spell used during WoE for three reasons: Lighting damage isn't reduced by Valkyrie Shield, Can cause blindness in those who have less than 300 luk and it can be spammend causing a lot of hit, practically making up for the low-damage dealt)
Ice Wall Level 10 (can't be used inside guild castles, it's a good way to keep enemies away from you. If you cast it on yourself it makes you invulnerable to enemy's Storm Gusts)
Frost Nova Level 10
Storm Gust Level 10 (the most powerful spell a wizard has, it deals a lot of damage, if casted right after “amplify magic power” it ignores this spell after cast delay. You MUST use it during WoE! The only bad side is that this spell can't be spammed, multiple SG from a single caster won't stack their damage)
Earth Spike Level 5 (the most useful bolt spell against hidden enemies, using this skill against them will dig them out, however you must spot them, using Ex 3D Glasses, Maya Purple Card or Sight, before being able to cast earth spike on them)
Heaven's Drive Level 5 (a wizard secret weapon against hiding foes, this area of effect spell will reveal hidden enemies hit by it even if you can't see them)
Quagmire Level 5 (slows down opponents during WoEs and reduce their dex causing them to miss more hits and deal less damage)
Monster Property Level 1
Soul Drain Level 10
Magic Crasher Level 1 (the only skill that is effective against Golden Thief Bug Card users, if your equipped weapon has Turtle General Card, Hydra Card, Incantation Samurai Card or Thanatos Card on they will work too)
Amplify Magic Power Level 10 (it doubles the damage dealt by the next spell, the only issue is that it has an after cast delay that only Storm Gust can Avoid)
Ganbantein Level 1 (when a professor uses Land Protector, a ninja users Crimison Fire Blossom or another wizard uses Ice Wall this skill casted upon them will make them disappear, indispensable when defending a castle during WoEs)
Gravitation Field Level 5 (This is the only skill that can hurt the emperium)
Sight Blaster Level 1 (helps you keep away the enemies, particularly useful against Lord Knights and Paladins)

To get Sight Blaster Skill you'll have to talk to the Platinum skill NPC located in @warp amatsu 211 229

What a Wizard Should do:
During WoE:
The purpose of a wizard during WoE is to spam area of effect spells (Storm Gust, Lord of Vermilion and Meteor Storm) on enemies to kill them, if you are defending a castle you should spam them at the entrance of the room you are in or on sniper's traps so that when they will be blocked by the traps your AoE spells will send them directly to the last saved point.
If the enemy uses Land Protector then be fast to remove it using your Ganbantein skill.
If the enemies close in to you then use Jupiter Thunder or magic crasher (see pvp section) to kill them one by one. Beware of maya card users and of Soul Linkers (if you're not linked) when using bolt type spell cause they can reflect them back to you.
But the most important thing to do during sieges is always LISTEN TO YOUR LEADERS ORDERS AND DON'T TALK IF NOT REALLY NECESSARY!

During PvP:
This specific build isn't designed to work perfectly in PvP because of it's high-damage low-damage-reduction equips. Anyway you can still have some chances even in PvP. The worst nightmare of a wizard dueling is that it's opponent wears a Golden Thief Bug Shield, though many classes can't wear a shield (Gunslingers, Snipers, and even katar Assassins) if your foe wears a GTB card then your only option is to use magic crasher skill; to get the most out of this skill you must wear the +10 Double Explosive Bloody Blood Lust Rod [4] and then begin to use the skill on your opponent until he's dead, if he gets too close to you then use Sight Blaster or Jupiter Thunder to keep him back. Another important thing to consider when casting spells on a single opponent is whether to use bolt spells or area spells. If you are fighting in a PvP room or Guild Dungeon using area spells (especially Storm Gust) can anger the other people you aren't fighting against so be careful on where you place them. Casting bolt spells gets you another problem, Maya Card. Maya card on the opponent shield gets 50% of your bolt reflected back to you, the damage this bolts will deal is not based on your build but is exactly the damage your enemy would get from the same bolt so, even if you wear a GTB, the damage that you'll suffer will still be the unreduced one. The same kind of problem shows up when facing Soul Linkers with kaite skill on, this time it can be easily avoided by getting yourself linked by another Soul Linker.
When facing stalkers your priority is not getting stripped, to avoid it you can either ask for full chemical protection to a creator or have Sight Blaster always active to avoid the stalker getting close enough to use his full strip skill. The things you'll suffer the most during pvp are Creator's Acid Demonstration and Clown's Arrows Shower.
Certain opponents require specific equipment: against snipers, clowns and gunslingers using a Horn card in your shield is a must; against wizards and professors a Golden Thief Bug card in the shield can make the difference between victory and death; against assassins, lord knights, paladins and taekwon classes a thara frog shield is advised, against Champions, especially asura ones, the build is a bit more complicated, you should have horn card in shield (to reduce finger offensive damage) and noxious card in garment, when you fear he will asura you then switch to a Ghostring card armor and Deviling (or Raydric) card garment. NOTICE: This guide was made before the Triple Strafe update. I will try to rewrite some parts of the guide and even add new sections when I have the time. But the guide itself is still fairly useful.
